Same Sex Marriage Should be Condemned; Here`s Why

Same-sex marriage between a prominent fashion designer in the Philippines, and a business man last March 17, 2017 stirs various reactions from netizens. Most of the comments condemn the union between the two, citing that it is the highest form of perversion according to the bible.

Marriage is described in the bible as a union between a man and a woman, Genesis 2:21-24 and Ephesians 5:23 -33.

However, we can never use the Bible alone to define what marriage is though it holds the universal definition of what marriage is from the very beginning.

There is another viewpoint to be considered in the discussion of the topic. We can also look at the issue at the vantage point of psychology. Sadly, it shares the same opinion as the Bible.

Psychology recognizes that a man is the best fit for a woman. The two complements each other emotionally and psychologically. Marriage between the two yields favorable results when it comes to raising kids and role-modeling to other kids in the society.

So why would I agree that same-sex marriage should not be denounced in the Philippines. In fact, it also goes against one of the Filipino core values of “Pagiging makakalikasan”.

Same-sex marriage is not maka-kalikasan in any sense. Nature, if it would be given the ability to speak may also argue against same sex marriage. It is for the sole reason that the nature created men and women to fit together sexually for the purpose, of course, of reproduction through sexual intercourse.  It is apparent that the purpose can be fulfilled, only through a sexual relationship  between man and woman.

I am not condemning the gays here, or the lesbians. What I do stand against is the act of marriage between same-sexes. May be it would be allowed legally, but not in this  country.
